No "But" About It

This week's Moment of Truth: Acts 1:8 (NIV) — "You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Jesus did not say, "You will be my witnesses — but only when it's comfortable." There is no "but" in that command. So why do so many Christian men keep adding one?
In this week's "Moment of Truth," Colonel Richard J. Mendelow (Ret) draws directly from his experience leading Marines and advisors in Afghanistan to make one point clear: when you are on mission, your personal opinions don't matter. Where you came from doesn't matter. What matters is the right perspective, the rules of engagement, and doing your job.
Is Christianity any different? The conflicts you face each day — at home, at work, on the streets of this nation — are not interruptions to your mission. They are your mission. How you respond is everything.
When a Christian says "but," he is saying he knows better than Jesus about this particular situation. Do you actually believe that? Because the moment you add "but," you stop being a witness and start being fuel on the fire.
The command is clear. The mission is assigned. Are you walking it out — or are you still negotiating with the One who gave the orders?
